Research/Responsibilities

Christoph Somsen is in charge of the electron microscopy activities at the Chair for Materials Science and Engineering. He runs a research group which focuses on elementary deformation and transformation processes in structural and functional engineering materials. At the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Christoph Somsen is the contact person for the International Max Planck Research School SusMet (International Max Planck Research School for Sustainable Metallurgy - from Fundamentals to Engineering Materials). Christoph Somsen teaches classes on Advanced Characterization Methods (X-ray analysis and TEM) and on high temperature materials.
