This German-language lecture introduces students of the bachelor's program in Materials Science to the key experimental methods of the field. It aims to give first-year students an initial insight into the techniques for producing materials and specimens on a laboratory scale, into the characterization of microstructures using optical and electron microscopy, and into the assessment of mechanical properties. Both the underlying physical phenomena and technical and practical aspects are considered. The lecture is complemented by a lab course in which students can gain first hands-on experience of experimental laboratory work through four experiments.
