Research

Guillaume Laplanche is in charge of the research group entitled Microstructure and Mechanical Properties at the Chair for Materials Science and Engineering. The aim of the group is to determine the relationships between the thermomechanical processing parameters, microstructure, and mechanical properties of compositionally complex alloys. The activities focus on two aspects of the optimization of alloys used in structural applications: understanding their deformation mechanisms over a wide temperature range, from cryogenic to high temperatures, as well as their microstructural stability and the kinetics of strength degradation at high temperatures.
