Within Transfer Project T8, Clara Pohl is collaborating with Siemens Energy to investigate the microstructural and mechanical properties of Ni‑based superalloys. The project aims to optimize the material properties of large turbine blades for the later stages of land‑based gas turbines.

A central focus is the characterization of the γ/γ’ microstructure. Clara Pohl combines scanning and transmission electron microscopy with AI‑assisted quantitative metallography. Attention is paid to the evolution of complex γ’-morphologies that deviate from classical cuboidal arrangements, as well as to the dislocation networks surrounding γ’ precipitates. This work advances a comprehensive understanding of the relationships among microstructure, processing routes, and mechanical properties, and supports the development of new optimization strategies.
